The Yack Station is holding a pop up exhibition, Salon Des Refuses, featuring similarly knocked back paintings.
There were more than 600 entries in Benalla’s Nude Art Prize and only 32 were selected.
Curator and artist Lesley Labram said plenty of beautiful works were left over.
“The judges said they could have chosen another 100 at least if they had the space,” she said.
“We just put out the call and a lot of people came forward.
“They’re all quite pleased to show their work.”
Mrs Labram and Julie Kruger decided to put on the show after their submissions didn’t make the cut.
They named it after Salon Des Refuses, French for “exhibition of rejects”, an 1863 show featuring works refused by the French Academy of Fine Arts for the Paris Salon.
The name has since been used for other exhibitions showing rejected work.
The exhibition, featuring 25 paintings by artists from Yackandandah, Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta and Benalla, opens on Saturday with a celebration from 4pm to 6pm.
It will be open daily from 11am to 3pm until April 26.
