Hawk coach Paul Maher said the prized recruit had injured his medial ligament against North Albury, requiring a long stint on the sidelines.
“It’s pretty much what we thought,” Maher said last night.
“We are quite devastated to lose him because he was playing very well before he was injured.
“I think we have another bye in those six weeks so that helps a bit.”
Mulligan was rock-solid in defence before being assisted from the ground on the stroke of half-time.
The former AFL player formed a powerful partnership with captain Tyson Hartwig.
Maher said he wasn’t surprised by North Alb-ury’s performance.
“They were very good,” Maher said.
“We expected them to play well with players like Daniel Leslie, Maksymow (Jarrah), Feltwell (Rory). Akermanis (Jason) was good for them as well.”
Rovers face a huge test against Albury at W.J. Findlay Oval on Saturday, even with the Tigers missing defender Will Smith (hamstring).
