While the call has been posted on the Right to Privacy Albury Facebook page with the support of campaign leaders, the individual who posted the message is yet to be identified or step forward.
The Right to Privacy campaigners say the call is quid pro quo — protesters at the clinic discourage customers at Englehardt Street businesses on a weekly basis, so why shouldn’t they do the same?
But while the protesters have said they will take the call against them on the chin, it could be seen as what ear, nose and throat surgeon Roland von Marburg has described as “a bridge too far”.
Similarly, the attack on individuals’ livelihoods has also been criticised by a supporter of the protesters, Cr Cameron, who says while it’s one thing to have a go at the public figure like him, it is “a nasty tactic” to go after private people.
While the boycott campaigners say the call is a form of “silent” protest, allowing people to express their opinions without forcing those views on others, it’s hard to make that argument when the call is in a very public social media arena.
