Murray was undefeated in seven appearances as the state clinched its first title since 2008 by winning 32 of a possible 35 individual matches.
Yarrawonga’s Frazer Droop lost just one match.
Murray said yesterday the ease of the victory was no shock, considering the wealth of talent in the Victorian line-up.
“To be honest, I wasn’t that surprised,” Murray said.
“There were some really good players in our side and everyone played well.
“We have some great matchplayers and it’s probably one of the best Victorian teams to have played in the interstate championships.”
Murray, who captained Victoria, and teammate Blake Collyer were undefeated in their seven matches for the champions, while Droop only faltered in his final round match against NSW yesterday.
NSW finished second and Queensland made up the top three.
The Wodonga schoolboy came fourth in the stroke championship last week and backed it up by finishing 33-under in his seven matchplay matches.
“It’s been a really good nine days,” he said.
“I faded a bit late in the strokeplay, but fourth isn’t too bad and it was great to come out and play like this in the team championships.
“I couldn’t have asked for much more.
“It’s been hectic, but enjoyable.”
Murray played about 220 holes over the nine days and will now turn his attention to the men’s interstate championships in Canberra next weekend.
