A look-a-like turret will be set up with children given the opportunity to fire slingshot tennis balls at youngsters dressed up as green pigs.
Event secretary Mary Northey said it was one of a multitude of games that will feature at the annual gathering with other events including nail driving and golf putting contests and an appearance from Easter Bunny.
The gymkhana side of the day will include apples in the straw, a variation on musical chairs, where pony riders jump off their mounts and dive for fruit.
With a cost of $5 for adults and free entry for those under-16, Miss Northey is hoping for up to 1000 to attend.
“It’s set up so it doesn’t matter whether you are rich or poor you can come along and participate,” Miss Northey said.
The horse events began at 9am, with children’s activities starting at 10.30am.
