I don’t know about being un-Australian, but it is unreasonable to be dragged into a slinging match and may descend into a bigger problem.

Someone has to hold the ball to stop the game becoming nasty and this is a good time to do it.

Easter is about reconciliation and a new start and it is for all people.

Boycotts and intimidation are unlikely to bring good outcomes for vulnerable people which, after all, is the whole point of this community conversation.

The St Francis statue in St Matthew’s garden at the heart of the children’s labyrinth was actually bought from the Von Marburgs’ shop and there is no regret associated with its purchase.

In fact, we might take up a few words from St Francis — “Make me an instrument of Thy peace” — and stick that up somewhere on a social media website for Easter.

At the end of the day in feeling passionately about the welfare of vulnerable, we are actually singing from the same hymn sheet — doctors, business people, health workers, priests, police and politicians.
