Police have released this image of the man taken from security footage.
It was filmed outside the IGA just before 1.20am last Tuesday.
The man, described as short, threw a large object through the window, setting an alarm off which police believe probably prevented any entry.
The damage was valued at $2500.
The image was taken just before the window was smashed, but police are examining further footage.
Leading Sen-Constable Andrew Deegan has appealed to the public for help to identify the man.
Anyone with information about the incident should phone Chiltern police on (03) 5726 1222.
