Walker, who returned to the league where he already holds the season goal scoring record, has bagged eight in three games, three of those before limping off at half-time against Hotspurs two weeks ago.
The injury kept him sidelined for the state of origin clash on Good Friday and Afonso says a final decision will be made tonight.
“Zac will have a run tonight, he says it is feeling okay, but you don’t want to take any chances,” he said at this mornings AWFA press conference.
“We don’t want to put him out there if he is going to come off after 15 minutes.
“James Coutts also had a hamstring injury but played in the state of origin and pulled up okay.”
This will be Twin City’s fourth game of the year after this round two fixture was postponed because of work on the ground and following a bye in round 4.
Wanderers have had 10 days off with the Easter break and will follow with a bye again this weekend meaning they will have played three games in six weeks when they next hit the pitch on Sunday week.
Afonso said it was far from ideal.
“I would prefer to have games every week, we have had a chequered run in the past month,” he said.
“While it can be good for niggling injuries you need time together, playing week-in, week-out to get the continuity you crave.”
The game starts at 8pm at La Trobe University ground tomorrow night.
