The Gindaymanha Sports Carnival at Bonnie Doon Park, West Albury, is designed to keep children active during the break.
The 200 children who attended from 10am to 2pm had trained for it for eight weeks.
Mum Tammy said Tyron had had a great time using skills learnt with Albury Thunder’s under-10 team.
“He played really well and scored lots of tries,” she said.
“It gives him confidence. He loves it.”
Albury Council youth development officer Mandy Wilson said she hoped the event would encourage children to become more involved in sport.
“It’s an opportunity for the young to engage in sport,” she said.
“It’s about learning how to play as a team.
“It’s also just about having fun and kids meeting people and making friends.”
The day also included a DJ, other sport-related activities and senior player demonstrations.
