ALBURY livewire Lonnie Hampton says the Tigers won’t be taking North Albury lightly in today’s Anzac Day showdown at Bunton Park.
The Hoppers put a tumultuous off-season behind them when they stunned Wodonga by 42 points at John Flower Oval last week.
The Tigers will still enter today’s clash as hot favourites but Hampton said he wouldn’t be underestimating the Hoppers.
“We’ve just focused on putting in 100 per cent and, hopefully, coming away with a win,” Hampton said.
“Every week we want to play as best we can.
“We won’t be taking them lightly, that’s for sure.”
North Albury hasn’t beaten Albury on Anzac Day since 2008.
The Tigers have been one of the league’s dominant forces since then and again are primed for a crack at a premiership.
Hampton said the Tigers still had plenty of work to do, despite thrashing Wangaratta Rovers by 57 points on Saturday.
“It’s still early but there were some good signs,” Hampton said.
“We’ve still got a lot to work on as a group.
“We’re looking forward to getting out there and putting it all together.”
