The snow brought children out to play in the minus 2 temperatures.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Dean Stewart said more was expected to fall today and tomorrow before fine weather from Wednesday to Friday.
“Anything that does fall will be gone by the second half of the week,” he said.
Falls Creek Ski Lifts’ Anthony O’Shea said the snowfall had transformed the mountain five weeks out from the official start of the season.
“It’s like a full dress rehearsal for winter,” he said.
“People are champing at the bit for the season to open on the June long weekend.”
Mr O’Shea said there had been a high level of interest, with the busiest dates and the best properties filling up fast.
