Both AWFA’s under-12 and under-14 girls prevailed in the weekend’s round-robin games against teams from regions including Wagga, Griffith and South West Slopes.
It was the first carnival in at least five years for the under-12s who managed a draw and five wins in pool matches.
AWFA president Craig McDonald said the women’s game was a growth area for the sport.
“Not so long ago we played two grades,” he said. “Now we have under-12s, 14s and 17s, reserve and senior women.
“The weekend wins show the talent available.”
