Lady Bushrangers take aim at Casey

THE North East Lady Bushrangers will be looking to secure their second win of the Big V season when they take on the Casey Cavaliers in Melbourne tomorrow.

After a narrow three-point loss to the Cavaliers in the opening game of the season, the Lady Bushrangers will look to reverse the result.

Casey is in a log jam at the top of the ladder with a 7-4 win-loss record.

Their balanced offensive attack has been led by Jessica Szalek with 10.5 points and 7.3 rebounds a game.

The Lady Bushrangers have been competitive all season, but will be looking to avoid the dreaded third-quarter slump that has hurt them.

The senior trio of Rachel Jeffery, Stacey Brown and Sarah Mellington will lead from the front, but it’s the Lady Bushrangers’ youngsters that are going to have to step up.

Alaana Northey is due for a big game, while the Lady Bushrangers will hope to get more impact from Jade McCowan.

The North East Bushrangers face a tough trip to Casey this weekend.

The Cavaliers sit second on the ladder and will be looking to bounce back after a tough home loss last weekend.

For the Bushrangers, this weekend is an important one in the side’s development.

First time out, the Cavaliers walked away with a 24 point win after blowing the game open with a 19-0 run in the game’s first 7 minutes.

Savvy veteran Matt Witherden has been electric and will be a high priority.

The Bushrangers will look to step up the defensive pressure this week and use that to ignite their offence.

Jon Lindhe, Darcy Locke and Bobby Tye will need to have a big impact on the game.
