The top-of-the-table clash yesterday saw the home side and ladder leader dominate possession and chances without putting the ball in the back of the net.
Coach Tony Cigana was still happy with the point.
“I wasn’t expecting Melrose to be quite so defensive but that is their game plan — play on the counter attack,” he said.
“To their credit, they do it quite well.
“I think we had the majority of chances, most of the ball.
“But with such a congested defensive half, we struggled to penetrate.
“Certainly a point is a lot better than none at all.
“It is great to be on top but we know there is a long way to go before we can claim the title.”
