VETERAN Albury mechanic Garry Payne is confident he has left his auto repair business in good hands.
Mr Payne has sold Twin City Auto Repairs to German couple Oliver and Andrea Entrop.
He and his wife, Jenni, ran the business on the corner of Atkins and Townsend streets, for 30 years.
He said while he was not retiring, it was time to take a spell from the tools.
“We both need a good break,” he said.
“I have been doing this my whole working life.
“We are looking forward to some quiet time and time with our granddaughter.”
Mr Payne has seen many changes in the industry but still says you can’t beat a good mechanic.
“Diagnosing faults has become more complex with the electronic world. But you still need good mechanical knowledge and that comes with good training and Oliver has acquired high qualifications,” he said.
“I am confident they will continue the high standards our customers expect.”
Mr Entrop has worked at McRae Motors, Wodonga for two years since moving to the Border from Germany.
“I have 25 years’ experience in the business with German brands,” he said.
“After two years at McRae Motors, I decided I wanted to have my own business.”
