“I won’t be making any comment at this time,” Mr McCurdy said.
“I’ve been asked to keep a low profile on this one by my office staff.
“I know Geoff very well. There is a bit of grand-standing going on in Melbourne.
“It is not necessarily just Geoff — (Opposition Leader) Daniel Andrews has done his fair share.”
Mr McCurdy sits near the member for Frankstown in the lower house of Parliament.
When Mr Shaw was a Liberal Party member, he twice attended the Rutherglen’s Winery Walkabout as Mr McCurdy’s guest.
They both entered Parliament at the last election in 2010.
Mr McCurdy’s position is at odds with the tough talk this week of the Premier Denis Napthine about Mr Shaw.
His Coalition North East counterpart, Liberal Bill Tilley, yesterday urged Mr Andrews to resolve the instability.
“What comes from it all will be the decision of Daniel Andrews,” Mr Tilley said.
“We are a minority government, but we hold the majority of seats.
“We are working towards a November 29 election and trying to save voters heartache.”
