Vaughan, 20, made the cut for the Australian Netball League side and will travel across the country in the coming months as part of the team.
The Flames are one of two feeder clubs for the Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ Championship.
Vaughan, who played at Wangaratta Rovers before making the move to Melbourne, said her selection had only fuelled her desire to crack the big time.
“Definitely — I worked really hard for it,” Vaughan said.
“I’ve really tried to develop my game and the training has been full on.
“It’s going to be such good experience for me.
“You play against players from the ANZ who miss court time or drop down.”
The Flames play their first game for the season in Perth on July 12.
In another promising sign for local netballers, Wodonga shooter Jane Cook was this week added to the Flames’ squad, subject to fitness.
Cook has dominated for the Bulldogs’ in the Ovens and Murray this year.
Vaughan currently plays for the Yarra Valley Grammer Ariels in the Victorian state league.
