Complete Body Craft owner Chris Bourke closed the Springhurst Road site about 6.30pm on Wednesday and returned about 5am yesterday to find the front gate open, its padlock cut.
A distinctive blue trailer emblazoned with the business’ name had been stolen from the yard.
Mr Bourke said the equipment was used each day and had yesterday been scheduled to transport vehicles to Melbourne.
The trailer, which he believed was valued at $5500, had recently been refurbished with new branding and new tyres.
“Someone’s got themselves pretty much a brand new trailer,” he said.
“It’s a big hit.
“I’d say someone was eyeing it off because it’s parked in the same spot each day.”
Complete Body Craft has been operating for 16 years and Mr Bourke said they had never had problems with crime before.
“It’s pretty disappointing, not just for us but the town,” he said.
