Lewis Gardiner will be missing from the Panthers’ defence until mid-August as he travels the world. Yarrawonga star Tim Cooper is currently in the US, while Wangaratta Rovers have missed lively forward Daniel McCullough in attack this year for similar reasons.
“From what I can gather there’s a few around doing it at the moment,” Lavington coach James Saker said.
“It’s never ideal losing someone of his quality, he’s been one of our most consistent this year, but it is what it is.
“He’ll be back before finals and we think he can still play a part for us.”
In an added blow for the Panthers, Zach Hopper will also be missing from defence against Wodonga this afternoon.
He has knee soreness.
“He hurt it in the warm up last week, so he did quite well to get through the game,” Saker said.
“It just didn’t come up this week. He should be right to go next week.”
