After blitzing Altona 24-11 in the semi-finals, the rep side saved its best performance for last to clinch the state title.
North Albury’s Jacqui Newton was outstanding in defence while Yarrawonga’s Abbey Jones performed well at goal attack.
O and M chairwoman Tamara Mathews said the side hardly put a foot wrong over six matches.
“They were excellent,” Mathews said.
“I think they got better and better with each game to be honest.
“It’s a great side and the first time we have won the under-17s since we had Sarah Meredith and Stephanie Tyrell in the side back in 2007 or 2008.”
Matches were played at a cracking pace over two eight-minute halves, with Wangaratta’s Ebony Allen injuring her knee and missing the finals.
In the open division, the Ovens and Murray bowed out with a 10-9 loss to Ellinbank in the semi-finals.
