Truck flattens light at new High St intersection

A TRAFFIC light on Wodonga’s High Street and Elgin Boulevard intersection was flattened last night after a truck cut the corner.

Witness Thomas Park saw an earthmoving truck turn left into High Street from Elgin Boulevard about 7pm, hitting what he believed was a light pole.

“The light pole was swaying like a palm tree and when I walked closer I noticed the traffic light on the ground,” he said.

“The light pole must have fallen into the traffic light, flattening it.

“The driver cut the corner too fine because he probably couldn’t see with the mist that was around and there are no safety lights.”
