He said Wangaratta’s top-five aspirations would be over if it lost to Myrtleford at Norm Minns Oval today.
“We need to win our next six, if we can, then hope things fall our way,” Knobel said.
“There’s still a small chance.”
Knobel said the Pies entered today’s clash in good spirits.
“We trained as well as ever on Thursday and the guys have been terrific,” he said.
“We need to get off to a winning start.”
Star forward Joel Harris returns from injury in a boost to Wangaratta’s chances of doing just that.
He is the Magpies’ leading goalkicker this year with 30 for the season.
Myrtleford has won three of its past five games and will draw level with Wangaratta on 16 premiership points should it be able to upset the Magpies today.
