And the former Wangaratta player expects to find out exactly how much when the club takes on Glenrowan in a crucial clash at Glenrowan on Saturday.
Milawa, Glenrowan and Tarrawingee are jostling for the top two ladder spots, with the Demons and Tigers to meet next weekend.
“We haven’t beaten the two above us yet and we need to do that if we are to be competitive at the end of the year,” Edwards said.
“They beat us comfortably the first time so we have a bit to work on.
“Hopefully, we have improved but we’ll find out.
“It doesn’t get much tougher than playing Glenrowan at Glenrowan.”
Tarrawingee, which lost to the Tigers by 41 points in round three, may regain captain Kaz O’Keeffe (overseas) and youngster Ben Morrow (injured) for the clash.
The Bulldogs disposed of Bonnie Doon last weekend while Glenrowan accounted for Whorouly.
“We have been going all right,” Edwards said.
“It’s very tight and every game is crucial from here.
“We’re looking forward to seeing how we go because we didn’t get to play at Glen- rowan last year.”
Milawa faces a danger game against Bonnie Doon, Bright and Whorouly will fight for fourth spot at Bright, Greta will defeat Benalla All Blacks, North Wangaratta will fall to Goorambat and King Valley hosts Moyhu.
