The Bulldogs have been in the top four all season, but moved to second after they inflicted Cudgewa’s first defeat of the season two rounds ago.
They can tighten their grip on the prized double chance with victory over the Demons, with only percentage separating the two teams with four rounds remaining.
“There is a fair bit at stake for both clubs, but Corryong will start favourites after already beating us twice (by 16 points and one point),” Bullioh coach Peter Dean said.
“They will no doubt have set themselves for this match after copping a bit of criticism in recent weeks.
“Both teams still have to play Cudgewa in the countdown to finals and I still think there still could be a few surprises in store before the top two is finalised.
“Even top spot might still be up for grabs for whoever wins on Saturday.”
Dean said the Bulldogs’ would have no excuses on the weekend and would be close to full strength.
They are expected to welcome back Matt Haddrick, David Hallawell, James Bannister, Chris Star and Kelven Bailey, who all missed last week.
Dean wasn’t reading too much into the Bulldogs’ upset of Cudgewa, which was played in easily the most atrocious conditions of the year, with only five goals scored for the match.
“We have been travelling OK but we probably stole the win from Cudgewa, who had 80 per cent of the play in the last quarter,” he said.
“We just happened to have our noses in front when it mattered, but Cudgewa have won 10 out of 11 for a reason.”
In other matches Border-Walwa will rate its chances of springing an upset against Federal after some encouraging recent performances this season.
Cudgewa will have too much class for Tumbarumba at home.
