Agnes Westlund, 16, was met at Albury Airport yesterday by Rotary Club of Albury Hume members and some of her host families for the next year.

Agnes said the weather had been a balmy 30 degrees back home in the lead-up to her exchange.

Agnes, who will turn 17 in September, will attend Albury High School as a year 11 student.

“I am looking forward to meeting other young people and seeing how they live in another country,” she said.

“I am so lucky to have this experience.”

Agnes comes from Trosa located on the Swedish coast, less than an hour’s drive south of Stockholm.

She will live with four host parents while in Albury, spending three months with each family.

Rotary president Justin Clancy said the club regularly hosted exchange students from across the world.

“Currently we are sponsoring Xavier High School’s James Richardson on his exchange in Germany,” he said.

Albury’s Kellie Kadaoui will be part of the second family to host Agnes.

“My son Jack was selected to go to Germany and Japan as part of this program, so I feel it’s a great opportunity to give back,” Ms Kadaoui said.
