Castles, who is one of the favourites for the Barton Medal, kicked four goals from the ruck to help the club record its third win of the season.
With Nathanael Dudley, Kyle Roberts and Jake Wicker coming back into the team, the visitors controlled play after quarter-time, with Castles hoping it would spark a strong finish to the season.
“It was a good effort,” Castles said.
“We want to get a few more wins before the season is finished.
“It made a difference getting some players back in the team.”
Beechworth missed injured coach Brenton Surrey’s leadership, while teammate Brayden Carey was tagged out of the match by Beau Roberts in the second half.
Justin Maybury and Matt Osborne also played well for the victors.
Mitta United defeated Wodonga Saints by 23 points.
The Blues were tested early but broke clear in the second quarter when Joel Wilson, Nathan Reynoldson, Darcy Eaton and Aiden Adams put their stamp on the match.
The Saints were bold in defeat, with Jacob Schliebs and Charles Kerr leading the way.
Kiewa-Sandy Creek accounted for Rutherglen by 45 points.
The Hawks got away early and held the momentum through Ryan Wallace, Guy Telford, Jack Andrew and Chris Lewis.
Rutherglen was best served by Sam Bowers and Josh Quick.
