Motor vehicles are a paramount polluter when one considers all that is involved in their manufacturing and use.
Starting from the mining for raw materials to make parts, assembling the cars, transporting the vehicles, structures to travel on, objects to tow, servicing and maintenance, policing their movement and insurances, all the products one can buy for the vehicle, taking care of accidents, dealing with wrecked vehicles, licensing, medical facilities, funeral directors and it is interesting to continue to brainstorm more issues.
Motor vehicles directly and more importantly indirectly cause more pollution that any other industry.
