We already have two express trains to Melbourne a day, they’re called XPTs.
And even if you get another express from Albury-Wodonga, it would still be held up by having to stop in Wangaratta, Benalla and Seymour — as well as having to pass goods trains. You won’t save much time.
Just be happy you get to downtown Melbourne with no traffic, parking hassles or expenses.
