Promising trio Sam Scott, Alex Daly and Dillon Blaszczyk were last night rewarded for some strong performances in the thirds by being promoted to make their senior debuts.
“We want to give the boys a taste of senior O and M footy,” Raiders’ co-coach Simon Bone said.
“Who knows what they can do unless you give them a chance.
“They will bring excitement and enthusiasm and that can only be good for a footy side.”
Scott, Daly and Blaszczyk have been standouts for Wodonga Raiders’ thirds and were given the chance to step up with top-liners Jydon Neagle, Luke Visser and Steve Jolliffe ruled out for the season.
“It’s a very young side, but that’s OK,” Bone said.
“I think we only have two or three players over 24 or 25.
“The boys who have come up from the thirds all have reasonably strong bodies and we’ll back them in.”
Wodonga Raiders also included Brad St John and Tom Marlow.
North Albury also went for youth at the selection table with Matt Endresz, Luke Holman, Rhys Dempsey and Lachie Taylor-Nugent coming into the side for Mitch Mahady, Rory Feltwell, Jason Akermanis and Isaac Muller.
