“I have to go ride a 1000cc Superbike, travel at more than 200km/h on a tight, twisting track against others doing the same speed.
“But I should be right for the week after.”
Perhaps we have put a little poetic licence to the discussion, but that’s exactly what Albury Thunder’s gun centre Chris Seaton will do next weekend instead of tackling Cootamundra.
Seaton has returned to his motor racing passion this year off the back of an invite from former Border man Craig Trinder and the Trinder Aprilia Racing team.
After a credible 10th in the first race of the Australasian Superbike championship at Wakefield Park, near Goulburn, mechanical failures have robbed Seaton of a better result since then.
Next weekend he will head to Winton for the fourth round hoping for better luck.
“Because it is a tighter track than some of the others we will probably hit top speeds of about 240km/h, but on the bigger tracks we reach 280km/h,” Seaton said.
“We have had some issues with the bike but they have been working on that and at Winton I’d expect to do a bit better.”
