The Bulldogs snapped the Saints nine-match winning streak and consolidated fifth spot on the ladder after winning 15.9 (99) to 12.10 (82).
Enigmatic forward Ash Murray made the most of a late call-up to boot four goals on his way to best-on-ground honours.
It was only his third senior match and first since round five after struggling with form and injuries.
It was also a costly loss for the Saints who slipped from top spot to third.
They will now most likely have to defeat Henty in round 19 to be any chance of finishing top-two and with the prized double chance in finals.
In a further blow ruckman Trent Storey injured his hip early in the first quarter and didn’t return.
Spearhead Kylin Morey also came off late in the match with sore ribs, which he has been carrying for the past few weeks.
Jindera coach Josh Walker said he wasn’t surprised to claim another big scalp after also defeating second-placed Henty earlier in the season.
“It was a huge win in the context of our season,” Walker said.
“It keeps us in the mix for a finals berth but we are fully aware we are no certainties to play finals yet.
“We would like to think if we can beat CDHBU and Lockhart we will play finals.
“While it was an upset I wasn’t completely amazed that we did win because I know what we are capable of at times.”
