Cobram and Cobram Victory last week voted to merge after several failed attempts.
Cobram president John Ventre wouldn’t discuss the future, saying “we’ll stay with GNEFA at this stage, but anything is possible”.
But many on the Border have heard the talk and while nothing has landed on the AWFA desk, SS understands it’s on the way.
Victory is coached by fiery Englishman Louis Clark, who left the Border competition last year, saying he had been racially abused.
Countryman Charlie Romain, red-carded in Myrtleford’s cup final loss last year, is also in the squad.
