The Eagles, who have played in the finals every season since joining the Picola South East league in 2006, haven’t won in five weeks and are on the verge of falling out of the top five.
With a date against unbeaten Tungamah still to come, a loss to the second-placed Hoppers on Saturday could prove the fatal blow to East’s chances of figuring in September.
“That’s neither here nor there for us,” Forsyth said.
“They’ve obviously always been a strong club, throughout all grades, but whatever side we come up against in the finals will be a challenge.
“If you aren’t on — it shows.
“We found that out against Waaia the other week.”
The Hoppers reacted savagely from their shock loss to the bottom-placed Bombers, with a 74-point thumping of finals-bound Katamatite last weekend.
“It was good to bounce back and hopefully we can start building momentum,” Forsyth said.
