Union Road is one of the city’s busiest roads.
It has both 50km/h and 60km/h between Dallinger Road and Glenmorus Gardens which tends to confuse motorists.
The speed limit is 60km/h between the Five Ways and Burrows Road and further west to Glenmorus Gardens.
Albury Council local traffic committee chairman Graham Docksey said his view was that the section between the Five Ways and Dallinger Road should be increased to 60km/h.
“All people want is consistency,” he said.
“This is the public’s chance to have their say if they want change.”
Cr Docksey said the council had been approached by Union Road users about the inconsistency in speed zones.
“We’re now asking people who live and work along Union Road, regularly use the road, or have an interest to give us their views and preferred speed,” he said.
Earlier this year Albury Council worked with NSW Roads and Maritime Services on speed zone changes on roads in the Thurgoona area.
“We invited residents to have a say on the changes and received around 170 responses,” Cr Docksey said.
“It was a great result.”
The Union Road review will look at the entire length of Union Road.
Residents can have input by visiting the council website until August 22.
Results of the community consultation for the Thurgoona speed zone reviews have been collated, trends identified and a report presented to RMS to consider as part of an overall speed zone review.
There have been no changes to speed zones at this stage.
The area under scrutiny includes Thurgoona Drive, Elizabeth Mitchell Drive and Table Top Road.
