The Panthers destroyed an uncompetitive Raiders outfit that is playing like it wants the season over as soon as possible, restricting them to just 2.2 (14).

It was the third lowest score in the club’s history and its poorest effort against the Panthers.

Despite the opponent, Lavington coach James Saker said he was rapt with how his troops followed up last Saturday’s big win over Albury with another strong showing.

“We wanted to make sure we stuck to things that worked for us and we did that,” Saker said.

“I thought we really came to play in the first 10 minutes.

“Our ball movement was OK at times but we did get a bit fancy and precious at times.

“The main thing was we played the style of footy we wanted to play, rather than just get a kick and hopefully get the result.”

The Panthers did as they pleased for virtually the entire game.

Lavington kept the Raiders scoreless in the first half and it wasn’t until late in the third term they registered their first score with a rushed behind.

Brad St John kicked a goal soon after to give the Raiders their first major not long before three quarter-time.

Jack Di Mizio kicked their only other goal for the game in time-on of the final term.

Lavington, meanwhile, had no shortage of goalkickers.

Adam Butler, Adam Flagg and Mitch Palmer kicked four goals each, with star forward Adam Prior booting three on his return from injury.

The triple Doug Strang medallist got through the game unscathed.

Butler, Tom Hargreave, Flagg, Luke Garland and Palmer led the way for the Panthers, with Nick Meredith and Tom Yensch combining well in the ruck.

Livewire utility Myles Aalbers kicked three goals in the reserves and also pulled up well in his first game since round 4.

Things don’t get any easier for the Raiders, with clashes against Albury and Yarrawonga to come in the last three rounds.
