Senior policeman faces charges over Rutherglen assault
A SENIOR policeman is facing a series of assault charges over an alleged attack at Rutherglen earlier this year.

The charges were outlined by police media liaison yesterday with the incident happening on April 20.
The sergeant, who was described as being from the eastern region, has been charged with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault.
He has also been suspended without pay.
The alleged victim is believed to be a woman with the matter reportedly domestic-related.
The policeman is due to face Wodonga Court on September 16.
