Taylor, who played four games for Richmond in 2010, hasn’t taken his place in Mulwala’s side for more than a month after hurting his knee against Finley in round 8.
He’s managed just four games for the season.
Mulwala co-coach Ben James said Taylor hadn’t been ruled out of action just yet, with finals fast approaching.
The Lions can seal their spot in the top six with a win against Nathalia on Saturday.
“We’re hoping he comes up,” James said.
“He hasn’t had a good run.”
In better injury news, Jackson Gash and Jackson Weir will both return from soft-tissue injuries this week.
In the most exciting premiership race on the Border, seven Murray league clubs have legitimate flag claims this season.
Unbelievably, one of them will miss out on playing finals altogether.
“Whoever misses and finishes seventh will be very disappointed,” James said.
“Last week we thought we were a chance to seal our spot but other results didn’t go our way.
“Our goal all along was to play finals and if we win this week we can cement our spot.
“It will be a big challenge, but we’re looking forward to it.”
Nathalia also remains in the finals mix but is the side most likely to miss out, particularly if it drops Saturday’s clash at home with the Lions.
The Purples take on finals bound Rumbalara in the last round.
In other games this weekend, Barooga will have no shortage of moti-vation heading into its must-win clash with Num- urkah.
Not only are Hawks’ finals hopes on the line, their captain James Hazelman is playing his 150th senior game.
Elsewhere, Echuca United will have to find a significant turnaround in form if it wants to be any chance of troubling ladder leader Finley.
The Eagles suffered a shock loss to Nathalia last week and still haven’t sealed their spot in Sept-ember.
Deniliquin Rams can crack back into the top six with a win over Congupna.
The Rams must win both of their remaining two games to be any chance of playing finals.
Rumbalara could surge to top of the table with a big win over winless Cobram on Saturday.
