Diamonds are two points adrift of Boomers with a round to go — with both facing tough games to bank the three points.
Coach Tony Cigana said a half-time pep talk had fired up his team.
Diamonds trailed 1-0 at the break before equalising midway through the second half before Grace Gill buried the winner just minutes later.
“We certainly picked it up in the second half against quality opposition,” he said.
“The girls really showed some character in the second half and that means the pressure is now well and truly on Boomers.
“Ella-Jane Riley was great for us today and so too was Meredith Quick in goals.
“It was a great second-half performance — I couldn’t be prouder.”
Next week Diamonds are away to Albury United and Boomers are at home to Albury City in a rematch of last year’s cup finalists.
