AWFA is the latest to announce training and selection dates for its rep teams. While the under-13 to under-16 girls and boys will start in mid-November, the under-12s will go through an academy type four-week training program before selection trials start. AWFA president Craig McDonald said it was designed to create a level playing field. “These kids are coming out of the MiniRoos, so we spend four weeks on their skills, try to get them all to a comparable level, before selecting the squads,” he said. “We are seen as the leading regional association in southern NSW and Victoria, our teams always in the upper echelon at state carnivals.” Registrations can be made by visiting awfa.asn.au.
