Although the Bushrangers will start favourites against their 12th-placed opponents, coach Darren Ogier is taking nothing for granted heading into the final round match.
“We played Bendigo in round 2 and we were lucky to get over the line by two goals,” Ogier said.
“They will be very competitive and our boys will need to be at their very best to win.”
Eastern Ranges can replace the Bushrangers in eighth spot if they beat seventh-placed Sandringham Dragons and Ogier’s team loses to Bendigo.
The Bushrangers will be boosted by the return of North Albury ruckman Isaac Muller from VFL duties and Rutherglen sensation Marty Brennan from injury.
Captain Nick Mellington will be a key against Pioneers after starring in last weekend’s win, while Nathan Drummond also stood up with 36 possessions and 13 clearances.
Brydan Hodgson has also been in great form over during the second half of the year with his clearance work, and support has been coming from Mitch Mahady, Tom Holman and Dougal Howard in defence.
