Owners at Yackandandah Motor Inn Merrill and Russell Gronow have no signal for both channels Prime and ABC and say they are at a loss on how to solve the problem.
“It was early July when they said they were turning off the signal tower at Mount Baranduda and since then both channels have pixelated and have been so bad that they have completely lost signal,” Mrs Gronow said.
The owners of the inn said their televisions were only 2½ years old and they have had all the cables, antennas and televisions checked by a professional.
They have contacted Broadcast Australia, the ABC and Prime Television about the problem but were still having problems.
“We want it resolved but have been stonewalled by everyone,” she said.
Indigo Council’s James Trenery said signal strength was a problem throughout the Yackandandah community and has been for some time now.
“People approached me at the markets last Sunday about it and said it has been going on and off for a couple of months,” he said.
“I couldn’t get the ABC at all last night, something has definitely changed and it would be nice to have it fixed.”
Cr Trenery made enquiries to the ABC who said they would be running the tower at reduced power until August 25 while they carried out investigations.
“I explained to the ABC that the problem has been going on for months but I didn’t receive an answer,” he said.
Yackandandah Post Office owner Warren Gould has been speaking to community members about the issue and said the problem was at its worst in two parts of town.
“Back Creek Road seems to experience problems with Prime and Isaacs Avenue has problems with the ABC,” he said.
Mr and Mrs Gronow were concerned it may affect business if left unresolved.
“Because we are dealing with the public, we have a responsibility to provide a certain standard,” Mrs Gronow said.
“It has not been rectified and we just want it resolved.”
