With only a goal separating the teams throughout the match, Brendan Maclean’s line-up saluted when Will Unthank broke the deadlock in the dying seconds to run-out 4.4 (28) to 3.4 (22) victors.
Centreman Dan Turner was outstanding with his bullocking work around the packs while Ethyn Kane played well on the ball and up forward.
Diminutive Paddy Parnell, Cameron McLeod, Campbell O’Brien and Brendan Nicholson also impressed for the victors.
Maclean was proud of the way his players responded when challenged.
“The boys really stood up,” Maclean said.
“They have played for each other all season and as a team you can’t praise them highly enough.
“The boys have embraced everything we have tried with game plans this season and today’s win is a great reward for all the work they have put in.”
St Patrick’s finished third at the end of the home and away series but played its best football during the finals.
The Panthers were best served by Clayton Marsh, Noah Hollard, William Vlaskic and Jack Howe.
