McNamara broke his hand in two places during last weekend’s impressive elimination final win against Chiltern with coach Mark Sarau conceding yesterday he would sit out the finals.
“It was fairly innocuous,” Sarau said.
“He knew he was in trouble after hurting it in a smother.
“It’s a six-to-eight-week injury.
“Matt’s a very good player and it will be hard to cover him.”
The on-baller’s injury continues a run of bad luck in the family with his brothers James and Kyle suffering major injuries.
James broke his wrist this season and Kyle underwent a shoulder reconstruction last year.
Mitta United coach Clinton Gilson said the Blues wanted to make amends for their showing against Thurgoona in the qualifying final.
“We know we can play a lot better than that,” Gilson said.
Mitta United midfielder Darcy Eaton fronted the tribunal last night to face a charge of abusive language.
