Graeme Edgar, the owner of Border Bandag, had his business targeted for the seventh time this year when would-be thieves smashed the front entry door with a brick.
They did not get in but that hasn’t deterred Mr Edgar from offering a $1000 reward to those with information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Mr Edgar has donated $30,000 to Border charities and groups in the past year and says his philanthropy is at risk if the attacks on his business continue because of the cost of his losses and repairs.
It seems unfair the selfishness of those responsible for the break-ins will potentially mean that those who receive Mr Edgar’s support will miss out.
At Carrington Street, residents say they are also fed up with a spate of break-ins and thefts that have seen multiple vehicles stolen and damaged and other thefts over the past year.
Residents are urging their neighbours to band together to identify any suspicious behaviour in the area, good advice for every neighbourhood in the city.
