IF we give Tony Abbott and his LNP colleagues the benefit of the doubt, and acknowledge they are doing “government” to the best of their collective abilities, and are using their knowledge and current understanding of the world in which they live, to operate, then maybe the best thing we can do is help them to gain a better and more factual understanding of all the relevant things so they can make better, fairer, sensible and responsible decisions in government.

This education process of the current and “would be” politicians could start with a “big picture” view of the world, the future of the human species, the environment, the Earth’s climate, finite resources, and planning for a real and sustainable future.
Education would be based on scientific understanding and include a dismissal of ideology and religious mythology.
Any ill-informed opinions held by these people would be openly and honestly challenged, and sound, alternative views put forward to counter such narrow and unfounded opinions.
Open and honest debate would be encouraged.
Admitting one is wrong, or ill-educated, would be honoured in the process and seen as a positive step towards sound and responsible government, and the growth of society in general.
We all hold our future in our collective hands — our actions, or inactions, today will determine our tomorrow, whether it be livable, survivable, pleasant or not.
