THE people of Albury-Wodonga and beyond have the chance tomorrow to show support for people living with motor neurone disease.
The Border Mail and 2AY will host the Albury-Wodonga Community Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money for research into the disease tomorrow.
It will be the only community event of its kind and, despite having a serious cause at heart, should be a lot of fun.
Over the past week, we have heard a range of voices on motor neurone disease, from people living with it, their carers, researchers and, of course, those who have lost loved ones.
They are the people we ask you to support tomorrow. They are the people who benefit from raising awareness about motor neurone disease, and money for much-needed research.
Wodonga mayor Rodney Wangman and his Albury counterpart Kevin Mack say the generosity of spirit in our community gives them confidence the event will be well supported.
“This community keeps giving ... it’s one of the most generous communities I know,” Cr Mack said.
We could not agree more with that statement.
See you tomorrow — and don’t forget to bring your own bucket.
