Henna artists, make-up stalls, costuming, tarot readings and massage therapy will be part of tonight’s celebration of music and belly dance at Wodonga Senior Secondary College.

The event has been running for more than 10 years and will see performers come from as far as Wollongong and Adelaide.

Dance troupes Nemeda and Border Belly Dance will be co-hosting the event.

Show co-ordinator Samantha Boyd said the show would be “a very vibrant performance, full of energy, fun and lots of music”.

There would also be markets and workshops for all ages, she said.

“Belly dancing has excellent health benefits and is a very gentle form of exercise, suitable for older or pregnant people,” she said.

Respected belly dancers Virginia Keft-Kennedy, from Wollongong, and Kalikah Jade, from Adelaide, will be running workshops.

Kalikah’s workshops will focus on tribal and theatre dancing, while Virginia will be looking at dancing with props, and Turkish dancing.

They will also perform with dancers from Alb-ury and Myrtleford in the main show.

The show starts at 6.30pm at Galvin Hall.

Tickets will cost $10 at the door, or $5 for children 12 and under.
