In an act of breathtaking fiscal irresponsibility, Prime Minister Tony Abbott promised to keep the compensation and get rid of the tax that funded it and give billions of dollars to the big polluters.

No wonder the Coalition att-acked pensions and had to introduce its Medicare tax to pay for Mr Abbott’s wild promises to get himself elected.

Believe you me, the responsible people who were careful about their energy use are now a lot worse off.
