This is very noble but we should not be signing temporary protection visas because:

- They leave refugees in doubt as to their future. In the past refugees on the visas have suicided because of the anxiety they cause.

- People given a temporary visa cannot obtain a permanent visa. The High Court of Australia has found that Australia is obligated to offer refugees a permanent visa, TPVs are unconstitutional.

- Ms Morgan states the visas will certainly be cheaper and avoid the costs of security, health and mental health support. I feel onshore assessment and permanent residency would be even better.

The minister is prepared to send people to third world countries, lacking in basic facilities and security as evidenced by the two recent deaths in detention.

He is even holding a woman and her 84-year-old mother in detention at Villawood detention, despite the fact that they have been assessed as genuine refugees.

These actions are not only immoral but expensive.

Refugees arriving on our shores have a right to be assessed and either sent home or put under our care; not held in indefinite detention.

As I see it, if you sit by and let this happen you are part of the problem.
