Led by Sally Bulle, the line-up survived several tight sets to run-out comfortable 6/40 to 0/20 victors over Team Wurtz at the Thurgoona Tennis Centre yesterday.
Bulle was well supported by Dana Brazionis, Colleen Gallagher and Sandy Van de Stadt with Bernadette O’Donnell and Fiona Sutton playing well for Team Wurtz.
Team Stosur had all the answers from mid-morning going on to defeat Team Barty four sets to two in the 2A match.
Denise Shiel was a standout remaining undefeated for Stosur while Kerrie Smith was a two-set winner in her team’s loss.
In 2B, Team Court came from fourth position to win decisively from Goolagong.
After dropping the first set, the quartet of Nell Showers, June Armstrong, Michelle Aldridge and Trish Gallagher powered on to record a 5-1 triumph.
Carolyn Staughton and Louise McCulloch were solid early for Goolagong.
Team Dihood battled hard before their campaign gained momentum, eventually completing a 4-2 salute over Dwerryhouse in section three.
Joy Cartwright, Jan Dihood, Cecily McHarg and Kay Boughton all contributed to the win with Gillian Dwerryhouse and June Armstrong best for the losers.
Tuesday ladies pennant resumes on October 14.
